Why is the oil light on in my 95 Honda Accord?

A drity IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE will allow the engine idle to drop below acceptable RPM range. Locate it, clean it. Remove it if you have to. Also, what KIND of oil are you using in this car??? You have an oil pressure relief valve that controls oil pressure based on engine temperature. If it gets sludged up from bad oil, it will trigger a response as well. The only oil you should use is oil that is clearly labeled, "meets Honda requirements." Honda engines need oil that passes JASO tests. Personally, I would never use any oil but Mobil ONE or ELF! If cleaning the throtlle body doesn't work, motor flush your engine and make SURE you are using the proper oil. The oils I mentioned clean things out as you drive and create NO sludge. They protect expensive internal engine parts. You g3et best fuel mileage, too.

I would take it to Autozone. They can plug it in and read the sensor errors. They SHOULD be able to tell you what's going wrong.

Could be something as simple as low oil, but it could also mean your oil pump is not working properly. Best thing to do is check your oil level first. If it's low, add oil. If it's not, keep an eye on the problem -- if it gets worse, you'll need to take it in. You don't want to mess with that -- if you let it go and the belt that drives the oil pump breaks or the oil pump dies, your engine could seize up. At that point you're looking at replacing an entire engine instead of just an oil pump.
