Why is the media so obsessed with missing white kids and women?

I am White and It seems like anytime their is a missing child report, it's always a white kid or a white women. I'm not trying to be racist here, I really feel for them and their families. However, when was the last time you saw a missing asian girl on t.v? black girl? latina? Also, it's not always about race either, the person who's missing is almost always someone attractive. I doubt anyone would care about a missing person who was ugly or plain. But of course, even if a white guy did a stick up at a 7/11, it usually never becomes national news. With blacks and hispanics however.....
Anyone else notice this

Because the media puts out all of the "top" stories. The little black girl missing doesn't matter as much as the little white girl missing with blue eyes from FL. Who cares about the colored kid. I know it's sad.
Watching CNN or MSNBC they report on a missing child [not white] once in a blue moon.

It's sad, so sad.

I'm from Colorado as well. Just yesterday there was a story on about a missing black boy.. I've seen plenty of stories where the person missing isn't white.

Personally I've never taken note of that. Missing is missing period and what I think about is the trauma that the loved ones go through. I couldn't bear it...

-Racism. Think about it, when there is a shooting where only a few people died, it's all over the news. However, hundreds and thousands are literally dying in the black and hispanic community of gun violence..nobody say anything.

I disagree with the person aboving saying that white are the majority, so that's why we see more of it. Blacks aren't the majority, yet you will see them all over the media in negative images. He's a thug, a criminal, overwhelmed by lust, materialistic, can't take care of his children, but we can't show a few young innocent black kids that they've been kidnapped? When there is a kidnapping, the news have the decision to show it or not, and they rarely show black kids.

n) the girl today that was lost is hispanic. It wasn't as a big deal, but at least they said something.

I wonder the same thing. My friends and I were talking about this not too long back while watching the news. I guess people just don't miss ethnic, unattractive people. Before anyone calls racist I am both ethnic and unattractive.
