Why is the 'check engine' light on in my '99 mazda 626 ? Car runs great, gas cap is

tight? Has 125k miles, but runs great ! What could this be ?

Do you really want a list of all the things it might be or do you think it might be better to go scan the car for codes so we don't need to waste our time?!!

i only-know how to shut the light off.if you restart the car 3 X rapidly,it should reset the sensor,if that dosen't work,try selling the car quickly.

all cars in there old age do that.thats so the mechanics have someting to do when you take your car in for emissions.feed the economy

although most states dont have emissions tests,mine does.

It could be a lot of things. Anything from a simple backfire to a major mechanical issue. Your best bet is to take it to a part store like Auto Zone and have them hook it up and run the codes. It's free to do there and I bet other part stores will do it for free as well.
