Why is sex something one can give away as much as possible, but once money is

It is rather dangerous without government oversight, and the will of the people has not typically been to support it. I'd guess they are influenced by Christian heritage or they just do not think the government can properly manage the problems of prostitution, like dangers to the girls, STDs, and so on.
 
Not even give away--people barter and trade for sex all the time.

What's the difference between a woman sleeping with you because you gave her a $100 necklace, a woman sleeping with you because you bought her a $100 dinner, and a woman sleeping with you because you gave her $100 cash?
