Why is Sarah Brightman considered a joke in the theatre/musical world?

I was reading through some old Q&A's and came across a few of these comments, and though it may be silly, was quite offended. We all have our own tastes and opinions, and mine is this: since I discovered her at age 15 (18 yrs ago) I've thought she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don't think there's a recording she's ever done that I don't own at least one copy of. But I really am interested to know why people would say she's a "joke" in the industry? She is so extremely successful to not be mainstream. Joke seems really harsh. She's still my angel of music. Any insight or comments appreciated in advance!

I think Sarah Brightman is a very talented singer. I think the reason she's considered as a joke, (my POV) is because she got her break when she married Andrew Lloyed Weber. That's how she got to be Christine in the first place. I do too own a few of her CD's and one DVD. I think she's full of her self, and thinks she's God's gift to music. Mind you this is my point of view. :) Yes, she's very talented, yes, she's pretty and creative, but she's not all that and a bag of chips so to speak.
I hope this helps :D
