why is running considered a sport?

running is gay its no fun its just a method of transportation how is that a sport its like car drive is so not cool I think they should put running in a different section it shouldn't be considered a sport
lol running is boring and who gives a shit if you can get from point A to point B a couple seconds faster then me (ill just use a car)
 
Because it requires a lot of mental and physical stamina. It's not just plain running. You have to maintain speed and distance while you run, and unlike other sports, you can never stop and rest while on the track, which makes running a much harder sport than baseball, football, and basketball. I'm not saying other sports like baseball or football are not hard, on the contrary their very physically and mentally and demanding sports, but running is on a whole different level of physical and mental toughness.
