Why is No sound coming from Nokia 6700 ear speaker?

I have a nokia 6700 classic which i new and when i call someone i do not get a dial tone or i cannot hear their voice. However when i put it on speaker it is fine. What is wrong? I swapped to this phone because my 5800 wasn't working. I have tried to update an I have tried a reset.
 
i had the exact problem yesterday, i just blew on the earpeice and sucked in, a couple times

as stupid as it might sound it worked

i also just kept calling my vvoicemail and turning the speaker on and off
this is when it actually started working
