Why is my very new E61 slowing down?

I can't imagine why it's slowing down mainly when opening my contacts in my address book. I do have over 750 contacts but when I got this beauty 2 weeks ago this wasn't happening. It takes 5 seconds or more to open a contact. Any suggestions?

the only thing i can think of is if the top left key is your short cut to it, that could slow you down. usually u push that then * to lock your keys and it gives u a few seconds to confirm you're locking it.

Why havent some seasoned S60 users figured this out yet. If I'm in a phone only situation while out, I always leave my contacts, messaging, and call log open to make it quicker. I havent noticed a significant loss of battery either. If you keep those simple apps open it feels more like a S40 (in terms of speed).

Those are also the typical applications that the N73 (at least) leaves running even after you close it for that exact purpose. I think it'd actually be better on battery life like a light switch effect. Which costs more, to continually turn your lights on and off or just leave them on? Same deal, methinks.

have u try a master reset? well before that i suggest u cut down your log from 30 days to around 5...thats going to help, or at least i hope~ if nothing helps, then yeah master reset~

cant you just back up your 700+ and survive with say....300 people you must be able to contact at all times. At times I'm in charge of 38 restaurants and I dont have that many contacts!!

yes sir....and each restaurant averages a staff of 30 or so...and I still dont come close to 700 contacts..of course I dont always want most of those yo-yos calling me

I can't be without all the names. Plus I wouldn't know how to only sync some over. I changed my log to only store 10 days versus 30. I'll restart and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the input.

Mrkman,
I had the same problem with excruciatingly slow opening times for contacts. My phone was essentially unusable. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I could look up a contact faster in the phone book than in my phone. I disagree with some of the advice you've received. What solved my issue was a master reset. It was a pain to re-input all of my settings ( the back and restore did not fix everything back to 100%) but worth it as my contacts now open in a few seconds, rather than 20-25 seconds. Don't mess with reducing your calendar log or number of contacts. If the phone can't handle that you need a different phone or PDA. Good Luck.
