Why is my stereo dimming my lights?

I have a 145 amp rated alternator. Running 1 JL 500/1v2 powering one 10w6. At night, my headlights dim. I bought a 1000 CA battery and upgraded the alternator charging cable from 8 awg to 4 awg. All grounds and power wires are 2 awg. The amp is wired with 4 awg also. I think my upgrades may have helped but it may be in my head too!

My amp was factory refurbished. Is it possible that the amplifier is drawing more than its normal amps? I wouldn't think I need a capacitor with only one 500 watt amp.

HI.You need to do the big 3.which considt of at miniumum 2awg wire 0 guage is bettert more copper bbetter the flow.ok 1= 0 guage from alt to battery.2 is from bat neg to engine block.3 is from battery neg to body chassis.clean on spots till shiny better the ground better current leave exsisting grounds in place.go to walmart get a deep cycle marine battery put it in trunk run 8 guage from battery to battery in trunk run amp off of battery.youll be amased at the difference this makes.you wont need a cap.there really useless. i can send some pics to you if u wanna give me you email on the big 3 so u can see how its done its simple cheap and gives a 50% improvement
