6400 ISO AAACCCKKK!!!

That's what you've been shooting at lately.

Looked back at May 28 (Dominique in forest). It was shot at ISO 100.

You can probably get away with 1600 (certainly 800) with most subjects on the D90.

But 6400 is just too noisy.

Because you don't know what you are doing?

It appears that everyone ELSE knows what you're doing wrong.

Bring your ISO down to a point where you are using shutter speeds of 1/8000 or faster. ISO shouldn't be more than one over the focal length you are shooting over 1/60th of a second for hand holding.

Glad you love the camera... I've shot with it too - very impressive.
.

Check your ISO setting - that's the main cause of 'graininess' or noise in the digital image.
On checking the EXIF data on your recent shots, its set to 6400 - rather high. Your earlier shots (sky for example) is only ISO 800 - much less noise at this level.

Eeep 6400? quite the ISO number. As already mentioned that's super high. you can probably afford a lower iso and a slower shutter speed and wider aperture. You'd get the same effect with less grain.
