i've only had a normal period since april (about 4 months). before then it would only come about every 3 or 4 months and only stay for about 4 days, sometimes less. now it comes every month and stays for 5 to 7 days. i have about a 30 day cycle. but this month it was a week late and lasted for only 1 day. it came monday night, lasted all day tuesday, and today i noticed when i went to the bathroom (i hope you dont get grossed out) a small glob of thick brownish redish blood came out and i havent bled all day since. i took a pregnancy test 4 days ago and it came up negative, so i dont know what else it could be. i want to think its just because i dont have a history of normal periods and its just messing with me, but i want to make sure. any help would be appreciated.

sounds like a blood clot... just because you took a neg test does not nec mean that your not pregnant... you could be miscarrying

this could happen for any number of reasons

are you taking any sort of medication?
are you taking birth control methods? i.e.: implant/coil/the pill etc
are you under any sort of stress?

if it worries you go see your doctor or local health nurse

but it should be fine

Sounds normal to me. If you are a teenager or young adult, your period can be irregular until you're more into adulthood. If you had just a small flow yesterday into today was just a blood clot. This can occur when the flow is minimal and the blood just collects in your vaginal canal, it clots as normal blood does then eventually makes it way out. It's absolutely normal as long as there was no associated several lower abdominal cramping (worse than normal menstrual cramps), nausea or vomiting. These can be signs of a miscarriage. If your period is not longer than a week late, then you're usually fine. Your body makes adjustments in your hormones and periods from month to month based on stress, illness, travel or changes in weight or diet.
