Why is my oil light on in my 95 Honda Accord?

When I crank my car up and have it running the oild light comes on. When I press the gas it goes off then comes on. It blinks on and off. It kinda goes off when I put my foot on the gas but when I release it it comes on. What could it be? I hear people saying the oil pump. How would you know if the oil pump is bad? The oild pan is kinda of dent up underneath. Could the damage to the oil pan have something to do with it or maybe damaged the oil sensor?

The dented oil pan could be restricting the incoming oil to the oil pick-up screen causing oil pump cavitation at low RPM's. If the oil viscosity is higher than it should be the problem will be worse.

Try an inexpensive oil sending unit first. If that doesn't hack the mission install a new pan and oil pump.
