Why is my mobile phone not working?

I've had an LG KF600 mobile phone for nearly two years now and it's an ok phone overall but recently this year everytime I have switched it on, a message has come up saying "Sim card not inserted" and then it switches back off again.

The weird thing about this is that my sim card is in the phone and I have tried taking it out and putting it back in but I keep getting the same message. So now I can't use my phone at all which is just great...

I'm planning to get a new phone anyway in a few months but for the time being I have to make do with my current one but it's completely defunct now.

Does anyone know how I can solve this problem so it will stop saying this message or should I just contact the phone company?

Has the Sim card ever worked in your phone?
I doubt it is this, but i sounds like it's the message you get when your phone is Sim locked and you put in a Sim card different to what it is locked to.

Ie. The phone is sim locked to Orange, and your Sim card is T-mobile.
