i have a 97 vulcan 1500 with 48k on it. last week after a trip to get cigarettes, as i shifted into third gear, the shifter popped. i tried to shift it down at a red light and it didn't drop gears. could the linkage be stripped? the shifter just flops around and wont move the linkage bars, so its stuck in neutral. any suggestions?
