Why is my ipod frozen on the apple logo? Will I need to do a restore?

All I did was turn it off, it had full battery wasnt frozen or anything. I now, when pressing the home and on/off button at the top get the apple logo for about 5 seconds then it goes blank, I have repeated this many times, yet no luck on getting it to work : (
If I do a restore, will all my photos and apps be deleted? I'm not too worried about the songs as I have them on my computer here, available.

Anon - I have already said, I have repeated that many times, yet nothing happens, just shows the Apple logo.
 
this is a very easy fix (most of the time)...hold down the home button and the power button at the same time until it reboots itself
