Why is my Ford Galaxy 2.3 auto lumpy and stalling on the idle?

If the plugs, leads and coil packs have been checked correctly then your fault could be some sort of an air leak on the inlet manifold or pipes going into it. Could be a split rubber pipe, gasket or seal. Have the garage put the car on a C/O machine? They put a pipe up the exhaust and it measures the gasses coming from the engine. If there is an air leak the readings will show this.
To find the leak yourself put a small bore pipe in your ear (similar to the type used on your windscreen washer jets or aquarium pumps). With the engine running (watch out for moving fans and pulleys!) slowly move the other end of the pipe closely over the running engine and around the inlet manifold and vacuum pipes. You will hear a hissing noise in your ear when you find the air leak, sealing the hole the engine should run normal again. When extra air leaks into the engine the mixture (Fuel/air) becomes weak, this makes the engine lumpy as some of the spark plugs are not igniting the poor mixture, this causes your engine to rock and shake. You say the car has been on a diagnostic? Perhaps you should take the car to a different garage to be checked. You need a mechanic to look at it, not some "technician" with a laptop! Good luck

The tick over on our galaxy is very lumpy, when we try to pull away it stalls. When we eventually manage to get it on the road it runs really well until we slow down etc. We have changed the plugs and fuel filter. Now it seems to guzzle the fuel. Also had a diagnostic run on it which has shown no faults! Im at a loss any ideas please.
Our car is fuel injected
