Why is my flash drive showing up with no files?

Ok, so I've had my flash drive for about a year now. So I try to plug it into my PS3 to recover some old save game files since I had to get my PS3 replaced (Yellow light). So, I go to the save games, and it says that there are no files on my flash drive. I try to look for videos and pictures, and they both come up empty as well. Then when I try to look through the whole flash drive from my PS3, it says that there are absolutely no files.

I then decide to take it over to my computer and investigate. I plug it in, and choose to open it up and check the files. It comes up completely empty, but when I look at it's properties, it says that about 3 gigs (which was about how much I had on it) was taken up. I try to search through it, but I'm still not seeing anything.

Can anyone please help me?
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have a Sony MicroVault 8GB flash drive. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have any sort of password protection though.

I don't know what brand of flash drive you have, but with some brands/models you can password lock the data (i.e. on a Relay). You may want to make sure that you haven't locked the data, if you have but don't know the password, you're kinda screwed.
The other possibility is that something happened over the past year that corrupted the data (perhaps plugging it into the PS3?).
