Why is my car squealing at me?

It's making a squealing noise intermittently. Sometimes when the car's traveling straight, but it seems to intensify when I'm turning. It's not too high-pitched, but it's definatley noticeable. We've owned this car for a year now, and I've never had the brakes done yet, so I'm thinking that maybe it has something to do with that? When it does make the squealing noise, it kind of pulses, as if a spinning part is causing it...

It's your power steering pump, and it most likely just needs more fluid. It should have a fairly accessible cap with a dipstick under the hood and fill it with power steering fluid. If it already has fluid or that doesn't work, the belt that drives the pump might be loose. If not, you may need a new pump.
