I have a 2001 Saturn SL2 with 140K+ with a rebuilt engine that was put in it early this year. I have noticed that it's making a clunking, grinding type of noise only when I reverse and first begin accelerating. I never hear the same noise again until I start it up again. Recently had the tie rod ends replaced and alignment done but the noise began before I did that and continues now. I'm going to take it to a shop but I want to know FIRST what are some possible reasons this could be happening so that I don't go into the shop dumb and surprised at what could be wrong.
