Why Is My Camera Making This Weird Buzzing Noise?

My camera does this thing sometimes, it's happened about three times, (twice recently) where when it's turned off it makes this weird buzzing noise. It doesn't stop until I take the batteries out...why does it do this?

Probably the mechanism that makes the lens go in and out and closes the door to protect it working overtime. This is the thing that usually breaks on compact digital cameras. If it's a film camera, it's the auto rewinder that's not turning off as it should.
