I just got a new chain and sprockets put on by the mechanic. I got an O ring chain as my chain was stuffed and this ones supposed to last longer.
Before I got the new chain my old chain would bang on the top bit of my center stand, mainly when i was going downhill or slowly. It was more stretched out in one place than others.
The day I got the new chain it ran perfectly with no noise, then over the next few days, and now weeks, the noise is worse. It sounds a lot like the old chain noise but more muffled and more thudy.
I've put the bike on the center stand and run it and the chain is perfectly tightened and not hitting anything. The wheels seem aligned. Everything looks fine. I don't understand it.
The noise is worse in the rain and better after I grease the chain sometimes. I have been greasing the chain every few days though (not in a bad way) and it doesn't make a difference any more to this wierd noise.
The bike only makes the noise when its moving. Otherwise its running fine.
What could it be? Are all o rings chains this noisy? Can you think of anything else I can check?
