Why is my betta fish laying at the bottom of the tank. Also his top fin is missing.?

He is never active anymore and just lays around. I really want to help him but i dont know how.
also thanks for the good answers keep them coming please also he is really pale he has been like that for a while so i dont think he's dying i'm looking at him now and he is vertically standing up maybe the water is too cold or whatt? does that cause fin rot
HE IS NOT WITH ANY OTHER FISH oh and i reported you people that gave rude answers
 
He sounds either injured or dead! I really dont think there is anything that can be done. Better check the tank for something sharp that could have hurt him or find out what happened.
 
you cant really do a lot for fish. Go to your local petsmart and ask if they have a tonic or something. If theres another fish that lives with him then its likely they got into a fight and the other injured the sick one
 
I think that he is probably dead, unless he can still swim, but if he can't swim I think he might be dead.
 
there aren't any other betta fish in the tank, are there? they may have fought. eating eachothers fins is a way of dominating.

if not, then i dunno, but the finlessness probably has something to do with his lack of swimming.
