why is my 1994 jeep wrangler front passengers axle is leaking grease around it?

My passengers side axle on my 1994 jeep wrangler is slinging grease oput around where the shaft goes up thru the housing to the rearend. It has a dana 30 I believe. It is a 2.5 4cyl engine. It has 109,000 miles on it. I pulled the axle out and I didnt see a seal but the end where the splines are had a nick in it. Would that nick cause it to leak?
 
Drive axle boot is torn replace your drive axle they usually go around 90,000
