Why is Michael Phelps under such scrutiny. Our current Commander in Chief

did the same thing, didn't he? Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps is being raked over the coals for having been caught using marijuana not too long after the Beijing Olympics ended.

Now I will gladly say that what he did was STUPID, considering that he has a reputation to uphold, but for people to come out of their glass houses and bash him is uncalled for.

Obama as well as a number of our past Presidents have indulged in the 'high' life. But it has rarely been held against them. So why bash this young athlete?

Really leave the man alone.

Marijuana is not a drug that would help him to achieve any medals.

I can see that steroids should not be allowed in any worldwide athletic event.

If I were president I would state that "I did not exhale".

As an athlete who relies on a clean-cut image which he trades on it wasn't very clever.

I think Obama's narcotic of choice was tobacco rather than marijuana, but i dare say he indulged in the latter as well.

Oh please, the Phelps story is how *OLD*???! A whole lot of people have experienced with marijuana, including those White Presidents! Why didn't you have a problem with Bush? It's been reported that he even delved into heroin and cocaine! He sure didn't need that because he was *dumb* enough as it was! Phelps knew darn well that as a U.S. Olympic member that he was not suppose to be doing illegal drugs, but he ignored that! There were rules that he was suppose to follow! I have no sympathy for him or any other U.S. athlete who goes and screws up his/her high paid career by using illegal drugs knowing that they will be tested for drugs! The dummies. If I made the kind of money that these overpaid athletes made, I wouldn't even spit on the street, or jaywalk or anything that might be considered bad. I would be the perfect athlete. You would have no problem out of me. Not making that kind of money!

Your right, it is stupidity. And any fool who disagrees with that can email me through yahoo answers. I'm not afraid to confront idiots. Fair warning, you may find it an unpleasant experience to do that.

It's sad but true. We expect better from our athletes than we do from our politicians. Most people expect our athletes to be upright, hard working, drug free and role models for our youth and our country.

At the same time we expect our leaders to be dope smoking, thieving scum who only care about getting elected to office. Then we are surprised we get such bad leaders. Maybe if we demanded better behaviour from our leaders we would get better leaders.
