FDR wasn't president in 1929 but he was Governor of NY. And Biden never said President Roosevelt in the interview did he? People just assumed it.

TV was also invented in 1928 and first broadcast occured the same year, a year prior to the market crash. So he could have gone on tv and commented about the biggest news since WWI.

It just seems Republicans are unfairly bashing him for something that is very plausible.

Roosevelt was the author of the New Deal, a series of economic packages and work programs designed to help America out of the depression. The phrase "New Deal" is forever linked with FDR.

TV sets in America: In 1928 TV was still in the experimental stage, 99.9% of Americans did not have one. Therefore going on TV was not possible. News was delivered via newspapers and radio. FDR is well known for his fireside chats with the Americans helping them through the depression years. He coined the term, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" which is a phrase he used during his first inaugeral speech.in '33. FDR is often accused of creating big government, which he actually had to, but that's just opinion. The TV part is fact.
