Why is itMost of the time I try to stay out of the debate of religion vs atheism.?

No one ever wins. But think about this. Religion has block the progress of the human race better than any one thing on this planet. It has burned books of knowledge. Killed those who spoke out against the misleading information the church promotes. Burned those that didn't believe or believed something else. Hell Catholithism basis its whole tradition on the grusome murder of the person who was supposed to be there leader. Way to go on that one. You have to wonder if Jesus was murder 20 years ago would Christans where electric chairs around there necks. It is all so unintelligent it makes me want to puke. In fact I think I just did a little in my mouth!!!

You can't debate a believer ... when he is stuck and has no argument, he uses the sentence "it's because you don't have faith"

You can't win ...

For example, if I have faith there are martians on Mars, you can demonstrate the opposite 20,000 times over and over, you can bring hard evidence on the table ... if I tell u "you don't have faith", there is nothing much you can do
 
Religion like a lot of other things,politics and Personal opinion. Are used to try and keep us in line. People in early history were for the most part uneducated, and poor moral judgment was running ramped.It was learned that people were afraid of religion,fear of being beaten,imprisoned,burned alive or torture. Just for starters if they didn't do what they was told. What better way to keep humanity in line than to tell them if they don't follow a set of rules made by an almighty power than not only would we face horrible punishment on earth but then our souls would forever be tormented in hell. But like all great power it gets abused and used for personal gain. All the good is credited to a god and all bad is credited for not being faithful to a god,depending on what religion you may follow.I my self believe in a creator but do not belong to a organized religion. I was brought up Old time freewill baptist, rules very hard to follow.Long hair no make up skirts only and do as your husband says. along with many others.I would like to think my creator has other things on his or her mind than to worry if I am wearing make up or wearing jeans. I believe the belief of a god in truth would want you treat all men with respect and and to try and make the world a better place. Why create us if our destiny is to war and destroy the very thing that gives us life.
