I know taht each nation had different reasons for exploration and different ideas on settlement, but how does it play into why they came to the New World?

Part of it is the explorer's challenge of finding new places.

Most of it is economics. New worlds mean new resources, especially gold, silver and other riches. A majority were looking for new trade routes to the East (Asia)

England, France and Spain were economic and military superpowers at that time. Exploration meant more power.

There were various different reasons that each ethnic group came over to the New World, but the most prevalent one for the majority of immigrants, was religious persecution in their individual country.Whether they were Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, or anything else, they all faced imprisonment, death, beatings, etc. for practicing their religion openly. Most governments in Europe, at that period of time, did not have tolerance for individuals who showed faith in a Supreme Being, other than the ruling King, or Queen.
