...religion and state? Why is it that it is against the law to commit suicide because it's "immoral". Why is it that drugs are outlawed because they are "immoral" Why is it that homosexuals can't get married because it's "immoral"? Why is it that morality has a claim in legality when it comes to the way you live your life? I mean if you are hurting some one else sure that's not good but why is it that just because a christian says it's wrong can congress pass a law against it?
Maybe i should rephrase...
Why are they allowed to impose ethical laws? I'm not a christian I should not have to adhere to a law that is made for them.

We are a country run by the people, by votes

75% of the country claim religion (christian)

so if 75% of the people vote from a christian background and mind set

you can bet it will be reflected in the laws

do you really need something so simple explained?

I'm a Christian, but I believe in a strong separation of church and state... however, having said that, any society needs to have a minimum amount of "morality" legislation like anti-incest, etc... but obviously the U.S. has taken it too far with its wars on drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc...

I am not a Christian. But Know the fact that majority rules. All religious groups should be able to live their individual and collective lives in accordance with the desires of its majority population, with adequate rights for its minorities.

how will they punnish you if you die?

anyway i like the no sucide rule, sucide can be faked and you don't want people to just appear to commit sucide.

anyway homosexuals not marrying, now thats different it is creating segragation

You know America was founded by Christians that wanted a country that has freedom of religion, not from religion don't you?

Reread the constitution and the bill of rights, it you look at it a little closer the majority of citizens can have laws passed the way they want so if most people believe in God (which I believe it is currently around 85% of the country) then you will see laws that are God focused it is a democracy the majority is supposed to have their vote.

It takes a very long time to wait for the atheists to make up their minds on what's ethical and what is not.

Out of curoisity, where in the law books does it state that the law was passed because it was "immoral"? Not trying to be smart, really asking.

You do know there are laws in the books that the government really don't uphold right?

Ok with your first law "illegal to commit suicide", if the person succeeds in commiting suicide, there is nothing the "law" can do. Seriously are they going to put the corpse in jail? LOL

And the failed suicide attempt, the law doesn't step in either and arrest the person.

Some laws are just plain silly, like there is a state that it is illegal to put and an icecream cone in your back pocket while walking down the street.

cos they are controlling and are also, bigots, liars plus hypocrites, many christians tell so many lies and they never see it

I don't know why it's allowed either. I think it's disgusting how they try to push their religion on everyone else, when there are so many different religions that have different beliefs. Christianity is a huge chunk of the population, but what are the rest of us supposed to do?

It's not fair, and I find that 'immoral'.

By the way, I'm Catholic. I do not force my religion on anyone, it's their lives, their choice. People who think any other way are so controlling and cruel.
