Why is it necessary to learn how to swim and ride a bike?

Oh Crapples!

I never learned to swim (mom never taught me, too scared now, won't ever use it) and I taught myself to ride a bike in a day when I was 9 (that's good, I guess, although I puked a bit after). So, why is it necessary?

It's fun, it's great exercise, and you'll be glad especially of the swimming someday, because if you're thrown into the water, you'll have a chance at surviving.

It's necessary to learn how to swim in case you're in a situation where you ever need to know how. At Harvard they actually require you to take swimming because someone who donated a ton of money to the school made it a requirement after his college-aged son drowned due to not knowing how.

It's not necessary to know how to ride a bike, but I think it's one of the simple pleasures of life.

its not necessary to learn to ride a bike because it really serves no purpose its just helpful because its a source of stransportation.
its not necessary to learn to swim but i highly recomend it to everyone because knowing how could save your life lol.
and also its good excercise and funnn (: im a swimmer
likee all the time people are surrounded by water, in the summer at the pool, on a cruise, at the beach, on a bridge, etc. your not always surrounded by bikes. lol (:
