The trailer hitch is a pretty sturdy connection but not always secure. There have been a lot of trailers that have separated from the tow vehicle and ended up flipping and getting crushed in the process. They were never designed to carry passengers and their thin skins and structure will not withstand the forces of an impact. They are designed to house people at a camp site only.
