a. Newspapers are the least corporate-owned news source, so they are the least biased.
b. With the rising numbers of immigrants, newspapers have traditionally been the only bilingual source, thus shutting out more and more participants from the political process.
c. As newspapers are the least expensive form of news media, this means that only the wealthier part of the population is politically informed.
d. Newspapers have the greatest number of sources, so they have the most diverse outlook.
e. Newspapers offer the most comprehensive political coverage.
 
That's a loaded question. To generalize, you can those people Americans. They don't read. They watch TV more often than reading. People are being brain washed watching stupid stuff on TV.

You are wrong in that newspapers are least corporate owned. All news papers are owned by somebody big. You just don't dig deep enough. Besides news is always tainted. Newspapers report things that is not detrimental to their advertisers. Many news stories don't ever get published because the editors won't because their bosses won't allow them to.

On the point about traditionally being the number one source: well, things change and traditions change too. They didn't have cable until the 80's.

Newspapers cost more than turning on the local news. And the local news gets their news from the newspaper. Besides, if you have yahoo as your front page, you can browse through the news right then instead of paying a quarter.

Newspapers have a great number (de ja vu as I type) sources because they report the same things in their own view. Like a dozen reporters at a press conference. Besides just because they all report the same thing, doesn't mean they are correct. Go to youtube or any search engine and type "Loose Change" and wonder why no news agency has investigated.

To end, people don't care about politics. There should be a limit on the number times representatives are allowed in office and they shouldn't be able to decide how much money they make. They make the laws so that other people don't get a chance to be part of the process.
 
I don't know where you got your information. In fact newspapers are most all corporate owned and are extremely biased. Newspapers don't have the greatest number of sources, nor do they offer the most comprehensive political coverage. On the other hand I agree with you that at a community level a newspaper is the best source for political coverage.
