Why is Israel bombing Gaza in super heavy weapons?

You know that Gaza is twice the size of Washington city ?? how Shoppers are shelling this strip heavily like that, did you see casualies on TV.
GOD, what's happening on earth ?

If you have no knowledge of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict then maybe you should research a bit about what's going on over there.

Israel is retaliating to repeated rocket attacks by Hamas.

The only reason Hamas use those fireworks is because they do not have the funds or support to use the same technology as Israel use.
Trust me, if they were able to, they would.
 
Its funny people want to say "oh this is an eye for an eye situation".

Take a look at the death toll on both sides and it paints a quite different picture. More like someone attacking you with a paintball gun and you retaliating with a bazooka. Its pretty lopsided.

Israel has the right to defend itself from rocket attacks.Hamas is not serious about peace as shown by them breaking the 6 month truce with something like 200 rockets and mortars aimed at Israeli border towns . Neither Israel or Hamas are not doing the right things to encourage peace.

Israel overall has shown restraint and I commend them on that but this recent attack and the possibility of more to come show that the Israeli government has gone way overboard in retaliating.

I hate that there is so much hate on both sides of this as seen in the other comments on this question. To solve this problem Hamas must stop rocket fire but also Israel must not give motivation for Hamas and other Islamists in Gaza to continue fighting.

Israel has this idea that "Bombs for peace" will work when it has proven (in this instance) that it only encourages more resentment and mobilization of Palestinians to fight.

Hamas is also in a backwards mindset- They are attempting to "logically" use terrorism (rocket fire and suicide bombings) to force the Israeli citizens to pressure their government into giving into their demands. ( Read The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism) This clearly doesn't work with Israel as the government is hoping to discourage future attacks with devastating retaliation. Its a pretty messed up cycle.

Both sides should show restraint as their current methods have proven to only increase violence and work this out diplomatically. Either this or continue this conflict for another 100 years.
 
To prove a point, that and the fact that Palestinians do not want peaece. No it is not a merry christmas for those kids...it is sad they live with terrorists...

Gaza as a Part of the Palestinian territories, is in war with Israel since 1948, its a very long story! Israel is using a good excuse to bomb Gaza, and Gaza is throwing rockets on A small part of Israel, Peace is needed there, a Compromise is needed from both sides to stop this madness for both!
We live once, we want to live peacefully!
 
They are trying to take out the hamas terrorists who hide behind civilians. To do this they need heavy weaponry. A few more days should take out most. Hamas has been bombing Israel daily for months. Israel can do the same to the terror murder group Hamas in days.
