Why is Ichiro Suzuki only referred to as Ichiro instead of his entire name?

In the MLB standings (and elsewhere) it only says "Ichiro", not his full name like everyone else. Does anyone know why this is?

In Japan, "Suzuki" is a very common last name. When he was still playing in Japan, he was allowed to put his first name on his jersey to differentiate himself. When he came to the U.S., they allowed him to continue doing so.

He was referred to as just "Ichiro" in japan leagues and they kept it the same when he came over to the mariners, probably to avoid an inbox full of lawsuits :p
