Why is HMV so damn expensive?

How can they look at them as competition when THEY own the same online stores? Why would HMV highstreet compete with HMV online? It's under the same umbrella, the same bosses calling the shots. Their not gonna compete with themselves, they will get a sale from you whether it is buying cheap online and waiting 4 days for delivery or getting an extra fiver off you and you getting it there and then.

When Zavvi were around to provide them with competition their 3 for 20 deals were quite good sometimes. You'd find a lot of decent films in there. Now their 'sales' are just the same old crap recycled endlessly with the occasional new film added to keep people interested.

To be honest ur better of buying stuff of the internet like Play.com etc then the high street these days you get a few pounRAB here and there, or wait a little longer and get something a even more cheaper futher down the line

I have to walk by our local HMV to get to poundland..every time HMV is always empty..funny enough u can't get moving in poundland for people..I often wonder how HMV manage to stay open (in my town anyways)

The two mediums are different, with different overheaRAB and competition. Have to say, it will be interesting to see how the high street will change over the next few decades.

HMV does tend to be more expensive but quite often they are able to compete with Play, Amazon, etc.

I was debating going for pureHMV, but realised that their website still accepts student discount carRAB even though the store doesn't!:D

Those of us who are of a certain age will know that long before Internet shopping existed, HMV was still always the most expensive place on the high street to buy music and video (VHS).

Early 90's, all chart albums in HMV were at least
