Why is headlight on my 99 dodge dakota so dim?

I recently changed a blown bulb on my 99 dodge dakota and replaced it with a brand new bulb. however it was not bright and barely
illuminated at all. i have not been able to find any reason for it. I checked to see if it was the bulb but it was working fine. any advice would help thanks.
 
sometimes when you move the wires around to get the bulb out it will loosen or break the ground wire ,check that and see if it is loose,dodge has very thin wiring and the ground wires around the headlight area,s gave some problems,good luck.
