Why is god always portrayed as a male figurehead?

so how do we know god is a male when all we really know is that the bible is written by men. really if god was all powerfull and capable of anything he could give himself a sex change and saying he cant would be denying his power. does god have male genitalia? what point would they serve? does god need a wife? it would make more sense i think if god was an it. like neither just a omnipresent force that could be whatever it chose whether male or female. it seems like religion really has it out for females and it just makes no sense why god would be a male logicaly. yes it says it in the bible but that was written by men and id immagine if theyre ever were a female 'prophet' expecially in biblical days she wouldnt get very far. so im trying to figure out beyond that whats going on with this concept? how do men feel about it and how do women feel about it?
ok im refering to the mainstream religions i know not all religions just the majority. and it is common knowledge im asking why it is so and how can people continue to justify it - thought i should specify that

Wow...you say God like Christianity is the ONLY religion. Your question is funny because it's ironically biased, and you don't even know it. Thanks for the laugh. :)

@ad Good try, but you repeatedly refer to the Bible, which is not of all mainstream religions. I would suggest a good dose of world religion and comparative religion studies for you.
