Why is gas going back up when oil prices continue to fall?

The price per barrel of oil continues to decline, yet this past week our gas prices have risen over 10 cents a gallon - what gives?? Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining about $1.69/gallon compared to the $4.53 we paid just a few months ago, but something is smelling fishy here. OPEC has talked about reducing their oil production, yet the price per barrel continues to fall. It should stand to reason that gas prices should continue to drop as well, right? Are the big-oil companies manipulating the market yet again - afraid they won't post their disgustingly high record-profits at the end of the year??

It's all for profit. I hate those CEOs and all that stupidity they do so they can sit in their velvet chairs not even knowing what we're going through.

economy scares. Everyone is greedy right now. The rich bank owners are pretending to go bankrupt in an election year when they know the candidates have to care about the economy or throw away any chance at getting elected. They want a rich bailout. Why do you think they are celebrating? Gas prices are creeping back up because for years selling gas was not very lucrative. OPEC made all the money. Now gas stations are trying to cash in. Americans will pay whatever it takes for gas. That point has been proved. Everyone wants a piece of that apple. OPEC is less interested in profit now because Bush is leaving, and they made trillions over the last 8 years. Obama is not an oil man.
