Why is everyone worried about the environment?

Every one is worried about the environment because it's getting destroyed....
by us, with Global Warming and what not.
people are worried because some people are completely blind to it and somethings got to be done soon to lower CO2 emmisions, stop pollution, whatever, before it gets much worse. And by the time we start doing something it might be too late??
Also we are killing the earth :'(
