Why is everyone complaining about the singing at Michael Jackson Memorial?

You do realize most of those people were very close to MJ and had known him for a while? I respected them for even getting on stage to sing, especially the ones that knew him since he was a kid. And then to sing a sad song and look down at his casket? I would've been overwhelmed with grief. Of course most of the singers sounded bad today because they were choked up and were holding back tears. They weren't there to sing for your entertainment, they were there to pay respect. That's like if your mom died, and someone asked you to sing a solo at her funeral, and a churchy song at that. There's no way you could sing powerful and sound good, because you'd be hurting too bad. I was just disgusted when i heard people complaining about the singing.

That's true I just didn't like Jennifer Huston performance! Probably everybody disagrees with me I just thought a man would sound better.And she didn't know Michael

well i agree that singing at michael Jackson's memorial isn't bad and i think it's a wonderful idea, to show his appreciation one last time. I pity the people who does not liked the singing for michael jackson.
 
I think you are right. It is not about the singing, it is about the sharing of pain. However, I was disappointed in Jennifer Hudson's performance. I know it should not be about the singing but what bothered me is that I could not see the pain and sorrow come through her voice and Mariah's voice as much. Jermaine was not only holding back his tears when singing but his voiced almost cracked up at some point, if I remember correctly. So there you have it. Amazing voice plus great emotion of sorrow which was able to touch the viewers. I would not give a darn if Mariah sang worse than she did if she had shown more emotion. It seemed like pure old Mariah to me, putting on a (less flashy) show. Just my opinion. Oh and I know Jennifer is pregnant so I cut her some slack. I can imagine in her condition singing and being tearful is not the easiest thing in the world.
