why is Euro music so bad compared to American music?

Well that's why I was saying the British vs US scene specifically.

Although, to be fair, since the US is such a large country, there tend to be more diverse scenes within the country than there are within one individual country in Europe. Just right now you can see distinctly different things going on in NY, Pac NW, Gainesville, etc

So comparing the US scenes to all of Europes scenes isn't exactly unfair, although I will admit, Europe as a whole has diversity. Even the UK as a whole. I am specifically talking about the state of British (indie) rock, which I think is completely stagnant creatively.

Ah, ok.
I listen to some modern British rock banRAB actually.
A handful of groups I find brilliant, like Porcupine Tree and Pure Reason Revolution.
I'll be perfectly honest and say I'm not incredibly familiar with Britains music scenes, only a few artists I've heard good things about from others.
Though, if you want to get technical, I find most Indie Rock, regardless of origin, to be somewhat stagnant.
Like almost any music scene, it has it's gems, which are often buried by a mountain of
I can't name any music scene off the top of my head that I feel is just a thriving well of "my opinion of quality music."

I agree, I absolutely love Porcupine Tree. Theres a ton of other great British Rock Music out there:
Elbow
The Editors
British Sea Power

You could also go on for hours about the heaps of quality techno, house, and trance out of Europe as well. DJs such as Danny Howells, Josh Wink, Carl Cox, Matt Darey, and Laidback Luke to name a few.

I heard this song for the first time recently, and I think its pretty awesome for a commercial top 20 hit.

Porcupine Tree is good.

The British popular rock (ie current indie) rock scene is rather derivative...

The Editors, Arctic Monkeys, Libertines, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks, etc, etc....

You're listening to the wrong music then. Although, from the sound of it, you listen to mostly metal and probably not doom/stoner metal, so maybe I see where you are coming from with that opinion.

maybe my beef is against techno music more than anything.

it's just staggering to think how you can play something akin to a cellphone ring tone on your casio and become famous for that in Europe.

my favorite music is the music that gives me energy and gets me hyped up

IMO country is the exact opposite of that, as its mostly depressing moody crap. rock is just blah.. has no real affect on me. some hip hop gets me hyped up but most of it is just dirty slutty ghetto music.

trance/dance/techno > all

I'd agree with this (and I'm European and listen to tons of electronic music) but that just means that there's tons of idiots here. Imo the most creative musicians from the 90's were mainly electronic artists. You just don't see them in the charts. Haven't really found a lot of amazing stuff yet in this decade, but I'll probably discover it when the decade is over.

Out of curiosity what do you think about the whole indie electro scene thats been growing a lot more in overseas recently. BanRAB like Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco, Black Ghosts, Ladytron, ect.
