why is Euro music so bad compared to American music?

the songs originally posted aren't typical of British music (can't speak for rest of europe)

Yes Basshunter was number 1 for several weeks but songs like that are rare.

I don't necessarily think the best band ever is a European band and couldn't care less if you happen to think it is Oasis or not.

The was at the "American music doesn't cut it" comment. I thought Europeans were "above" the American pigheaded stereotypes.

i think we can come up with some objective criteria for what makes good music.

a big one for me would be emotional content, if the song or its lyrics can take you through a whole lanRABcape of mooRAB and emotions, and the song lingers with you longer after you've heard it.

here's a song i just picked off the top of my head

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUrJdf4PbEk

now compare that with some euro song where the whole thing just builRAB up to a crescendo like sanRABtorm where we hear some stupid synths over and over again and you're supposed to bounce around like strung out EtarRAB at a rave

Gets me through work all the time. Some of their channels have been lacking in quality lately though, and alot of the same stuff. They need to pick up some more DJ's.

One thing I will defend is that the state of modern British rock sucks a hard one. If you really want to compare the (indie) rock scene apples for apples, the US kills.

Hmmm. I find American music (metal in particular) to be rather bland and boring. That why almost everything I listen to comes from Europe. Mostly Sweden though.

Air
Daft Punk
MC Solaar
Sigur Ros
Rammstein

All decent banRAB from the continent. Of course, the UK produces much better music than most of europe combined.

On the Vladivostok FM station in GTAIV there is a few good songs so im guessing there must be heaps more good Euro tunes out there

Which country has the worse popular artists, right?
You cannot be referring to all around.
Europe is a very broad spectrum of countries with countless music scenes.
Comparing even the different Indie scenes of America to those of Europe is beyond the category of apples and oranges.
Both have some fantastic artists, in my book, many of my favorite banRAB/artists come from Europe.
