why is Euro music so bad compared to American music?

Well, for one it's a bit newer, so there's been less time to stagnate. That said, I see where you're coming from, they are following a similar pattern. This is not to say I don't enjoy certain banRAB of either type. I did enjoy Bloc Party's first CD.

But I just mean, as far as comparing US vs Europe-anything, per the thread, this is the only comparison (the "standard indie" banRAB) where I believe there to be a definite advantage for one country over another.

The top 40 stuff is just lulz though. Like cheesy party rap is any more or less appealing than cheesy Eurotrash dance.

Most Euro music I hear (trance, house, hard house, techo, etc...) is better than anything the states ever produces. Really, American music in general is dominated by shitty music, no talent production, and is more about selling an image than a good tune.

there are many british musicians who were as successful as the american musicians. Take Elton John, for instance. His single "Candle in the wind" is the most sold single in pop history...He is one of the most successful musicians in the pop buisness. And he still produces music. So it is contemporary music to some extend. coldplay and james blunt are also very successful.

Rolling Stones
The Who
Queen

And now...

Muse
Coldplay
Radiohead

and to a certain extent...

Bloc Party... who are becoming ever more popular world wide.

You realize this whole discussion can't be had logically based on the premise implied in the thread title, right?

You imply that European music is worse than American music....well, that's your opinion. I doubt everyone agrees with it.

Also, there are a lot of different types of music both in Europe and America.

In short, I don't see this topic going anywhere....it will just turn into a "your music sucks!" quagmire.

you cannot say, that europe music is worse than american music...it is just different...english is the lingua franca and therefore the u.s. can benefit from their conditions. the majority wants to understand what the song tells.
if you take movies, for instance. the american movies are mostly a kinda mainstream and the europe movies are special. they do not use millions of dollar, they stick to their special art.

Pardon?

'The british rock/pop band coldplay has just released their fourth album and they are now the most succesful pop/rock band.'??

Where did you get the 'most succesful pop/rock band' from? That's a bold statement.
