Why is apple restricting adobe flash player on its devices like iPod, iPhone etc?

I just got my first iTouch not so long ago and was wondering why apple is not allowing people to watch videos that require flash player. And now they're saying that the iPad probably won't be using flash player either, so what the hell is apple doing, and why???
