why is Americans whining about gas prices ?

they are really low compared to the rest of the world in many countries you would have to pay over $3 per liter
 
To start with I do not live in Europe and I do not care what they are willing to pay for a product. $3 plus a gallon is to much for a gallon of gas considering what it costs to process it. Take diesel fuel, costs less than gas to process and yet it is now much higher than gas. The prices are being kept artificially high.
 
because most of the people make minimum wage here all our good paying jobs went out of the country and now people depend on food stamps and flip burgers to survive if there lucky . but some do have good paying jobs and the gas prices affect everything down to the price of toilet paper because were capitalist society
 
Well because our economy controls the worlds trade and it's economic future.If things get expensive here the whole world will suffer.Wall street,and the Nasdaq,and Dow,can make or break a company,and a country as well if it collapses.The world watches our reaction to the gas and oil prices,it reflects their prices daily,weekly,and monthly.
 
BECAUSE THE PAY RAISES ARE NOT GOING UP WITH THE PRICES OF GAS...YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER SOME PEOPLE IN AMERICA ARE 6.,55 cents an hour!!
 
Because it is a drastic increase in a short period of time. And it has substantially lowered our standard of living since most of us get around by way of our cars. Many people here have SUVs which are gas guzzlers. And now they can barely afford to drive them. I'm just glad my car is small. Still, with these steady increases, it won't be long before I have to get a job closer to my home and start riding my bike to work!

They're definitely trying to kill us with these gas prices!
 
I understand what you are saying, but you have to keep in mind that not only "was" our gas going up along with that all other prices were going up for everything we buy. It is going down a bit now but the food and consumer goods are still up there.
 
There are two things you need to be aware of when comparing prices between America and Europe. One is that gas prices are taxed at a much higher rate in many countries. The basic price isn't that much different. The other factor, when comparing UK prices, is that their measurement of a gallon is a bit different than ours. So its not really an apples to apples comparison.

And I guess my final comment would be is just because Europeans are willing to accept those prices, doesn't mean we should.
