Why is American culture so popular around the world?

You never see a foreigner using British slang like "cheerio matey would you like tea lad?" They always try imitating the American accent and use American slang in their vocabulary. Why is our culture so popular in the world? (God bless America, the greatest country in the world)

Could it be because our media? American movies, music, tv shows, etc...
 
People in under developed countries learn from their TVs and some of them think USA is a terrible Godless place. Others think it is their chance to 'get somewhere'. But popular, it aint! Try Europe, where there are quite a lot of anti-American people. Its nice that you think your country is 'Gods own" but most of us do that of course. Australia is 'God's own' but dont tell anyone! (Britain too)
 
It's not popular. It's forced on us. I'm English and I'm always speking my own dialect. We never imitate your accent, probably one person did and you're generalising.

I assure you. America is very unpopular here!

maybe it is because you bomb the shit out of everybody,invade & then saturate what's left with coca cola,mcdonalds & your twisted view of the world
 
"cheerio matey would you like tea lad?" erm in that sentence you're saying bye to the guy then asking him if he wants tea? Lmao that's such a typical example of a non-Briton's attempt at stereotpying the British slang. I'll give you a good example of British slang... "Ya smelly yanks!"
 
Ha! We in America are always using British slang, because American's love the British and British people! Find me an American girl who doesn't fall for any British accent that comes their way!
 
it isnt. you shouldn't think that until you actually go around the world and see what it's like.
movies, tv shows; the media is the LEAST reliable source for accurate culture views.
 
Of course it is the media. And it is imitated because people like to imitate things.

You know, people who cannot think for themselves. People who worship false idols, America is full of them.
