Why is advertising and pop culture growing so increasingly childish and immature?

So many commercials nowadays are cartoony, goofy, immature. It's like they are marketing everything to seven year olds now. Even the new Amazon Kindle - supposedly it's a high-tech device for people who read newspapers and magazines on the go, yet the commercials could be for a five-year old's toy.

Movies too...they're just so immature. It's like everything is marketed to tweens.

Why is that? Is society just getting more immature or are advertisers just showing their contempt for people?

They are just over killing the idea of simple/silly humor. The type of comedy that is well executed in movies such as "Old School", and the "Hang Over". Everyone is trying to be "that guy" with the funny commercials, so they can try to get people just as interested in their advertisements as they are in their products.

I know these are candy related commercials but these are good examples of what "many" advertisers seem to think is the best way to advertise now. I personally don't have a problem with it, but I see your point.

Or are some people becoming excessively misanthropic and pseudo-mature?

That was my answer in the form of a question. Hopefully you can get something out of it.
