Why I broke up with my Nokia N95

Yes, it has everything you could possibly want in a phone...

Yes, it was one of the most anticipated phones of all times...

However, for me, the battery life just made it unreliable for every day use.

Great review. Battery life should be any manufacturers first concern above all else I feel but this phone has everything and is a huge jump forward and I hope it will inspire them to work with battery manufacturers for longer life batteries as well as work on power usage for the phone itself. Overall it may be too much currently to ask of current battery technology to support so many features actively used on one device. Still love the fact they are pushing the advancements further and further. We really need some great imporvements in battery technology. The feature advancements are surpassing the battery advancements at a vastly faster rate. Still should at least a little better power management though. Good review. Thanks

It's definitely a shame that battery life is an issue for such a nice phone...

Battery technology definitely needs to be caught up with what cell phones are capable of now...

I bought 2 replacement batteries and a desktop charger for $18 US to solve this issue cause that's my only gripe with this phone and it's easy to carry a spare fully charged battery around this way. Msg me if you want the supplier.

battery life shud be addressed, there nothing mobile abt it, if u constantly need a charger, gone are the days where the old nokia lasted for several days on a single charge?

Just wanted to disagree with the N73 and K800 sliding doors comment you made. I feel that both are very well made. Unless you plan on humping a concrete statue with one of the phones in your pocket I don't see either camera lense getting scratched.

Other than that nice review

I almost doubled the battery life on my 6131 by forcing the operator to my actual provider rather than leaving it on automatic. Not sure if you've tried that yet.

Nokia doesn't have an excuse. The BP-6M from the N73 actually fits with room to spare inside the N95, but it can't be used because the two batteries and phones have different connections. The E90 isn't a step in the right direction either for battery life. I'd be able to revolutionize battery life in mobile technology too if my flagship handset was literally the size of a brick.

But if you cant get 6 hours of listening to music before its dead, then thats a problem. I used my k790a the other day listening to music until I got tired of listening to music. Nokia's batteries should be the same. Someone mentioned the S700/710 battery not being good and I agree. But SE has greatly improved, whereas Nokia hasnt..

i charge my n95 2-4times / day.

thats included

locked to UMTS (3g) network
1-2 hours call
1 hours mp3
Wifi 30 - 60min / day with opera browser
and 40 - 200sms (from PC suit - bluetooth)
+ messing around with the phone about 30 - 60min / day
and the phone is connected to my bh-900 the whole day..

but the battery life doesnt bother me since im used to charge my phone several times / day...

That's very good review.

How long do you think it would last on continuous mp3 playback with headphones approximately (phone enabled with screen off)? I usually use that as an indicator on how batteries perform for different devices.

I was listening to MP3's for 5 hours 10 minutes using the supplied headset when the phone started beeping due to battery. It then lasted 20 more minutes and shut down. This from a full charge.

is the battery life that bad on this devise? will the phone at least last a day on a single charge if you browsing the internet, talking calls and listening to music?

i really want to buy this phone but reading all these post about the battery life is turning me away
