Why have the Irish in liverpool remained very very wclass eg scouser culture?

The slums around Scotland road were the place where most of the Irish (Catholic) immigrants lived, Netherfield road was the strong hold of Northern Irish (Protestant) immigrants.

You have to understand that until the 1930's Liverpool was divided along sectarian lines as much as Northern Ireland and Glasgow still are. The effect of Bombing during the 2nd world war decimated much of the housing stock, and rehousing meant that Catholics and Protestants were moved in next to each other, discovered that their opponents didn't have two heads, and much of the sectarianism evaporated.

Did you know that Liverpool was run by a Conservative council until the 1930's voted in for it's unionist credentials by a largely Orange electorate?

That doesn't mean that none have climbed the greasy pole, my cousin was born in Kirkdale and has a detached house close to the squirrel sanctuary in Formby.
