Why has rhyming, metered, structured poetry been abandoned?

anybody can
stack words like crackers
in any kind of order
missing or inappropriate punctuation, poor grammar
and call it a poem
 
Not just anybody
can bleed truth
from a broken whim
or a steady stream of piss.
 
Ahh dear sir, it has not been abandoned, I use it daily, and shall continue to do so. Although I write not in free verse, there are those who do it quite well, as there are those who do it quite badly. Of course there are those who do metered rhyming verse quite badly also. I won't condemn them for trying though. Through trying, they get better with time.
 
Basically because people got lazy, and because poetry is creativeness, which shouldn't have rules!!
 
Simply because most of those who try and pass themselves off as poets these days can't do it. With no rules, anything goes. The result...chaos.
