Why don't we find many Indian waitresses in restaurants? Esp. Indian restaurants?

I've noticed that most Indian restaurants unlike others have male waiters instead of waitresses. Even if they do have them, they are not Indian. I was wondering if this was a reasonable observation or just co-incidence?

The women are probably in the kitchen making the food.
